Have There Been Any Updates to the ESIC Contribution Slabs? Let's Discuss!

I would like to know whether there have been any changes in the ESIC Contribution Slabs. Please advise.

There is no change in the ESI Contribution. It is 1.75% and 4.75% respectively for the employee and the employer.

Ok, fine. If it is true that the ESIC slab will be changed to ₹15,000/-, could you please inform me if there is any government notification regarding this? Anybody?

No, still the government has not finalized the changes in the slab. So, don't make any changes at your end until you receive the notification.

Being an HR professional, it is important to use correct terminology.

ESI Wage ceiling has been enhanced from INR 10,000 to INR 15,000 w.e.f. 01.05.10; There is no change in the Rate of Contribution, i.e., 6.5% (Employees' share - 1.75% & Employer's share - 4.75%).

Shall we change the new ESIC slab with effect from May 2010 in our payroll program, or should we wait until the government notification is published?

You have to change immediately effective 01/05/2010 since the notification has already been issued in the Official Gazette.
