House keeping, upkeep of office environment, strengthening of security and its set up, and whatever others not doing in Office premises those work will be considered as Admin / HR / IR department work.
Never feel to do any type of work you are doing.
Whatever you are doing, do it. Others must tell you are the best. Become a perfectionist in your area of work.

I was going through the responses of each person in this forum to your question.
You had upset quite a good number of people by the way you threw your question.
However, your acceptance and highlighting that in the interest of "Future". Surely shows you have mellowed-down.
Not many things done by people are well appreciated by them. Let us not put it down on some other's court.
Housekeeping is a noble job. It keeps everyone happy and in good moods. We are the custodian of people and we need to give them good sanitation and hyiegenic environment.
Accept Housekeeping as ours.
May I request all the other members to appreciate Naveen for this beautiful nature of his.

It depends on which industry you represent, infact years back and even now in traditional organisations there is a blurr between HR and Admin. Anything thats not operations, not finance, not marketing or sales is definitely admin and hence HR
As a HR manager I am in a position to do security and House Keeping too

Did you suffer through this issue in your office?
First pls understood Housekeeping department is not only for cleaning a restroom & brooming a floor, its a main sector thats to make our office environment hygiene and safely, I think Employees Hygiene & Safety factors must come under the HR dept. Now a days presence of office is must in MNC's. that presentational which as provide by Housekeeping dept, So be proved to be a part of Housekeeping.
This matter is not depends on industry, it must be there in every industrys,

Hello Friend,

House Keeping is a essential dept. which makes the company smooth running, as per my knowledge HR Dept will take care of House Keeping also. Let me tell u some suggestions
1)Always go for outside contractors for HK
2)Try to keep a supervisor for that House keeping people alone
3)Daily HR has to go for a factory round and point out the areas to be cleaned.
4)prepare check list for all dept in shop floor and other areas and monitor regularly.

However, in certain organizations, Admin activities are separated from HR and added under Facility Management function and house keeping / security/ building maintenance etc., inter-alia, comes under the Facility Management. If your organization structure is having two functions like HR & Facility Management separately, then you have the answer here. Having said so, in majority of organizations Facility Management/ Administration is considered as part of HR function only and accordingly the accountability for house-keeping rests with HR only.

If you are responsible for the completet gamut of HR & Admin functions, it is definitely in your preview. In smaller companies where you do not have saparatre HR & Admin. HR is responsible for all gamuts of Admin viz, HK, Security, Transport, Canteen etc etc.

Housekeeping is major part of company, it should be taking care Administration, But most of companies are joint HR/ADMIN. Dept and both department responsibility will taken by HR Deat. This is the my suggestion for smoothly running for our value we are to take responsibility.

Dear friends,
house keeping is the administration work not the hr department's work. But these days there are lot of industries who want's control over the house keeping by the hr people.
Well as per the factories act 1948 also, it is mandatory to provide health environment to the employees. Here it is the responsibility of hr department.
