Dear Friends,

For all those who have provided quotes for their respective states, I kindly request you to specify the month in which the payment needs to be made and to whom.

In Mumbai, the dues should be calculated based on the payroll of June and December. Payment should be made to "The Welfare Commissioner" either by cash or by cheque in favor of "Maharashtra Labour Welfare Fund."

Additionally, please note that there is no contribution required from Managerial Cadre Employees and Supervisors whose salaries exceed Rs. 3000.

Note for Pooja / Rakesh: You mentioned wanting to display the rates on a site. Please specify which site.

Thanks and regards,
Datta.

Dear Friend,

The Welfare Fund for the year from January to December 2007 must be paid on or before 31st January 2008. The amount must be paid in the form of a cheque or cash to the respective local authority of the Welfare Fund commissioner along with the annual return consisting of the list of employees with designation and Form C. There is no need to pay for the supervisory cadre who are drawing more than Rs. 3000/-.

Thank you for the information provided in the Excel file. It would be more informative if you could provide me with the following:

(2) You have provided deduction details by state, but could you clarify who is eligible for these deductions? Are managers and above eligible, or only supervisory and customer support supervisors? Please specify the eligibility criteria.
(3) Could you please provide me with the relevant sites for my records?

I am requesting the above information to compile it for my records.

Hi Sunil,

This is Rashmi, and I'm working for a software firm. I am currently working on the payroll system and have a few doubts regarding the Labour Welfare Fund. It would be a great help if you could reply to them.

1) I would like to know whether the LWF fund is charged in terms of a percentage on the current employee's gross salary or is taken as a fixed amount based on a salary range. For example, if Ram's gross salary is 5000 rs per month, will the LWF be deducted as 12% of his gross salary or 1500 rs as a fixed amount from his gross salary?

2) What all things are included when we consider Gross salary?

3) Additionally, what are the rules for LWF deduction on a gross salary range?

Sunil, it would be a great help if you could answer the above questions.

Thank you.

Regards,
Rashmi 😕
Amitmhrm
Dear Rashmi,

First of all, please clarify from which state you are from. LWF is a fixed amount paid half-yearly, contributed by both the employee and the employer. The amount varies from state to state. For Gujarat, it is 3 rupees from the employee and 6 rupees from the employer. Therefore, by the end of June, you are required to pay 9 rupees for an employee on or before the 31st of July.

Please verify with your state whether this is applicable in your region. If it is, then payment is required.

Amit Seth

Dear All HR members,

The members who are interested in getting detailed information in connection with the Labour Welfare Fund contribution may go through the attachment "Labour Welfare Fund - All India" by Mr. Srinihegde on Talk to Seniors Forum, which was posted on 14.07.2009. In my opinion, this attachment covers every aspect relating to the subject in reference. The Labour Law Reporter of July 2009 has also provided information on this subject, but this attachment is really useful for us as it contains all the required information on the subject.

The contribution is to be deposited up to 31st July & 31st Jan respectively via cheque or D.D in favor of Welfare Commissioner Chattisgarh Kalyan Nidhi & it is to be sent to Chattisgarh Kalyan Mandal, 7 Kailash Residency, Gitanjali Nagar, Raipur. Dear Rajendra,

This attachment was made by Sh. Srini, and in my opinion, we must give respect to the person who has given his time and energy in preparing this valuable chart for our HR members. I would also like to add here that the total contribution amount comes to Rs. 24 for Chhattisgarh State, while it is shown as Rs. 18. Secondly, the contribution rate of Tamil Nadu State has already been amended.

Thank you.

Dear Friends,

Thank you very much for all the input. Due to some confusion, the Labour Welfare Amount was not deducted or paid for the previous years (2007, 2008, 2009) in our company. Since I have taken up the Salary-Related work now, I want to clear off the dues for the previous years. I am working in a company in Chennai. It would be great if any of you can tell me what the penalty amount (% or fixed) is, which we need to pay along with the welfare fund amount. Also, confirm if it is okay if we deduct the amount from the employees who are on roles as of December 31st or need to include the amount in the F&F for those who leave in the middle of the year.

Thanks and Regards,

Yearly, once before December 31st, we should submit Form No. A to the Labour Welfare Board at their nearby head office. Form No. A contains details of total employees, their contributions, employer contributions, and the total amount. The amount should be paid by cheque.

In Tamil Nadu:
Employee contribution: Rs. 7/-
Employer contribution: Rs. 14/-
priju_johnson
Dear all,

There is a new amendment in Chhattisgarh Labour Welfare Fund contribution rates effective from March 2012. The new rates are Rs. 15 from the employee and Rs. 45 from the employer, with a minimum contribution of Rs. 1500. Previously, contributions were Rs. 6 from the employee and Rs. 18 from the employer. If the employer's share is less than Rs. 1500, then a minimum of Rs. 1500 has to be paid.
