I would like direction in the correct layout of revisions made to a policy manual. Is it placed as an addendum, or otherwise. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Angel

Hi!

When revising a policy (or even an entire manual), I would suggest the following:

1. Highlight the changes or new provisions by making the letters/words in "bold" characters or "different color" from the normal color used (e.g. "red" for new provisions versus "black" for the old provisions).

2. In the announcement memo, print both old and new manuals in two columns (side by side) on the same page and highlight changes to make it easily seen by readers.

3. When the announcement has been done, print the new/revised manual as indicated in #1.

Making an addendum for the new provisions can create confusion as it would tend to re-emphasize the old provisions instead of the new ones.

In some companies, they just issue the new/revised manual and discard the old one. Of course, some people would always want to see the difference between the old and the new.

Best wishes.
