Respected Friends Would like to have some examples of "Perceptual errors in organisations". Can anyone provide reallife situations? Regards S.Ram Prakash

Hi
Deepa has compiled an informative list of various categories of perceptual errors.
To elucidate further one of the most common perceptual errors is drawing conclusions based on 'first impressions'. The physical looks, the dress sense, the name, the communication style etc. trigger in us a variety of thoughts all of which go in creating this first impression. Eg. He has long hair and a beard, so he must be not very serious in his work or he must be the bookish/ scholarly types
Another type of mistake is letting our past experiences have an overwhelming bearing on our future perception. Eg. Students of XYZ B School have an attitude problem so we must avoid campus interviews there.
A variant of this is letting individual experiences become the empirical data for generalizations. E.g I didn’t enjoy the food at an Italian specialty restaurant so all Italian food is bad.
Trust these additional points can add value in clarifying your query.
