Hi all,

Fortunately, I just received a 9% increment. However, it was stated in the letter I received as "9% increment on the basic salary." I asked someone if it should be different if it was based on my total package salary, but he responded, "both cases will result in the same total!"

I don't understand. If my basic salary is X and my total package (after adding allowances) is X+3000, how could both amounts be the same??

I hope someone can help me understand this. Thank you in advance.

An increase in basic has an impact on the rise in the following. If you receive basic as LTA or Mediclaim annually, this adds to it. The company contribution of PF or Superannuation also gets included. You can determine your net rise in percentage accordingly.
