Hi,

I have newly joined CITIHR and I want to know how many memos should be given to a staff if they are irregular in their attendance. Is there a specific date or period for issuing this memo?

Hi Navamani,

If a person is irregular in the office, then you should give an oral warning first and then issue a charge sheet. If a person does not respond to the charge sheet, then you have to issue a show-cause notice. If there is further failure from the employee to answer the show cause, you have to conduct an inquiry. Notice of such should be given to the employee, followed by disciplinary action.

You cannot issue a specific number of memos to a staff member. The essential requirement is to adhere to the company's Code of Conduct and disciplinary action procedures or the regulations outlined in the Standing Orders Act that the company follows.

For each memo, you must comply with a strict timeframe. In the event of the same misconduct being repeated by the individual, it is advisable to initiate the subsequent disciplinary action procedure.

Please establish a policy on disciplinary action as a priority.
