Hi All,
This is Vivek. Please help regarding my queries about EPF & ESI, i.e.:
1) EPF & ESI - In what conditions are they applicable to the company/employee?
2) EPF & ESI - What are the formalities to get the PF Account Number for a Company/Employee?
3) EPF & ESI - How many types of forms and formalities are there that need to be completed by an HR Professional when an employee joins, terminates, exits, or passes away? What forms and formalities need to be completed by the employer and employee in these scenarios?
Please reply!
Regards,
Vivek

Dear Vivek,
This is all about ESIC (Employee State Insurance Corporation). For this, we first need an ESIC code. To obtain the code, you need to write a requisition letter following the provided format: Name of the company, Number of employees, Company address, Date of Establishment, and Individual dates of joining. Send this letter to the ESIC Regional Office (which varies from state to state). Once you receive the code, proceed with the submission of forms. All employees earning up to 10k should have this facility within 10 days of their appointment.
Next, submit Form-1 (Employee Declaration) and Form-3 RDF (Return of Declaration) along with the photographs of the employees. Ensure that ESI payments are made before the 21st of each month. Then, focus on office file maintenance, which is mandatory. This includes Form-7 (Register), Form-15 (Accident register), and Form-6 (Returns file). Note that the returns submission periods are April to September and October to March. Returns should only be delayed by a maximum of 42 days.
