How basic is calculated from CTC? Suppose if my employer told to give a candidate 2,40,000 salary per annum. What will be the procedure to make salary break up and the procedure to calculate basic from this CTC?

Dear Subhadeep,
Deduct all annualized item ( e.g. Bonus, LTA etc. and also Employers portion of PF & ESI etc. ) from CTC. Divide it by 12 to get monthly gross.
Based on Apex court latest ruling , it is better to divide monthly gross into two components - Basic & HRA. Put more portion on Basic and less at HRA ( Based on your Organization's policy).
