A Bizarre Salary Quoting Mistake
This is going to sound bizarre and then plain stupid, but that's how it has happened.
In January 2017, I left my job where I worked for only 6 months and took a year break due to health issues. Then in May 2018, I joined a company. For some stupid reason, for which I have no explanation, I quoted the CTC of my second-to-last company, which was 3 lakh less than what I was getting in my last company. I accepted the offer, completely forgetting that my last drawn CTC was 3 lakh more.
I know it sounds bizarre, a blunder of the highest order, but that's how it is. After 2 months, I realized the mistake I made and spoke to HR about it. They said they can't do anything immediately but will address it during the half-yearly appraisal. However, they mentioned that the company policy does not allow them to make corrections.
Seeking Advice on Salary Correction
I understand it's my undoing, but I am a good resource and I believe I should receive what I deserve as per industry standards. If they were to hire another resource of my experience, they would have to pay a higher amount, so why not pay me the same amount?
Please help me with what can be done in this matter.
