Hi All,
I Have a doubt regarding Notice period.
If an employees falls sick during notice period and doesn't come to office for 30 days, does his notice period gets extended accordingly?
Or else what can be done to handle this situation?
Please advice
Regards,

Dear Nagarajan,
Leave during notice period is not accepted in general. His notice period would get extended certainly.
If it is an exceptional case the employee needs to get the approval from Management on this matter, but the Management is at will to consider it or not.

This aspect should be clarified in the appointment letter. There is no hard and fast rule but if the requirement is to keep an employee on probation period period, than extended absence should be discounted from period served and this should be part of T&C

Hi,
Leaves in notice period are not considerable, but if management can consider his/her case than there is no need to extend his notice period. May be there is a chance employee is lying too. but full 30 days leaves should not be acceptable, organisation must ask to come and give proper handover by exceed his/her notice tenure.
