Got Rs2 deducted on salary for LWF - is it mandatory?

Why is this deducted only this month and not previous? What does the LWF stands for ? And is that mandatory to deduct from employee or else employer?

LWF stands for Labour welfare fund and this deduction happens only twice a year and it is compulsory from both ie employee and employer as well.
