Please note that compliance is nothing but to comply with the existing rules and regulations formulated by various authorities, State and/or Central. For this you have various dates, fee to be followed along with the standard procedures. In HR, you will find that you have to follow either the Shops & Establishment rules or if it is a Factory the rules under the said Act. It includes leaves under various categories, Bonus [if applicable], Payment of Gratuity, ESI and EPF [ the last three wherever applicable]. Broadly speaking the compliance has been segregated from the HR and in some companies they is a department allocated for it. Else it is the work of the Admin to see that all the rules and regulations are followed and returns filed as per the law. You may have to register and file under GST and returns are to be submitted by the due date, which again involves Compliance as well as the accounts department. Compliance department have to see that registration of the company/ Factory are in line with the rules and also as per the local authorities Act. So the exact compliance required depends on the kind of business you are involved in and also the strength of the business establishment and other areas. If the question is a bit more specific perhaps it would be much more easier to contribute. Thank you and have a compliant 2018.
