Hello Experts, My wife works in a Private Limited company that specializes in website development in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She has been with this company for the past 4.7 years.
Current Maternity Leave Policy
Currently, according to her company's maternity leave policy, she is entitled to three months of leave with basic pay.
Updated Maternity Leave Regulations
To my understanding, starting from 1st April 2017, maternity leave has been extended to 26 weeks, with 8 weeks before delivery and 18 weeks after delivery with full pay. This regulation applies to all organizations with 50 or more employees.
I would appreciate your valuable advice and any additional information regarding maternity leave, along with any necessary documents. This will enable me to effectively address this with the company and take the required steps accordingly.
Thank you.

Maternity Leave Policy Compliance
As per prevailing law and order, no company is allowed to make its own Maternity Leave Policy. Companies should provide Maternity Benefits to eligible employees either as per the ESI Act & Rules or the Maternity Benefit Act & Rules. In both cases, it has been revised to 26 weeks (earlier it was 12 weeks) of paid leave.
