By mistake, I have paid an excess amount in ESIC contribution compared to the actual working days. Now, how can I correct this error? Can the excess amount be adjusted in the next month's contribution? For example, if an employee worked 21 days in July, but ESIC deductions were made for 31 days, what is the appropriate course of action?

Dear Ankita, the amount gone is not more than 406 Rs. I suggest you let it go because the procedure to claim that amount back is hectic, time-consuming, and also requires too much written communication.

Although, if it is necessary, you have to write a letter to the ESIC area office about the same for claiming the amount. If you don't get any reply from them, drop one more letter to the same office about you deducting the same amount from the next month's challan amount and pay that much amount less in the next challan. But please keep that written communication filed forever as you will need it at the time of inspection.

do not show less days in the RC. instead pay from the challan amount. don’t fill in false data while filing returns. Prepare the challan and then pay less amount than challan amount.
