Hi Satya,

I would like to withdraw or transfer my PF from the previous company where I worked for only two months (received three salaries). My PF amount is 3000/month. I have my PF account number, and my current company has also provided a new PF account for me. The leaving date of my previous company was 29th July 07.

My doubts are:

1. Is it possible to withdraw my two months' PF from the old company account? Can I transfer it to the new PF account?
2. Do I need any approval from my old or current company for this withdrawal/transfer?
3. If it is possible, how should I process my request?

Thank you,
Satya.

PF can be withdrawn by making a request for withdrawal to the Commissioner of PF in India (assuming you are in India). This form will be available with the HR in your previous company, and you will have to receive signatures from the relevant persons from your previous company. PF will be given to you once you have shown 60 days of unemployment.

Alternatively, if you are continuing work in India, why not continue the same? Get the transfer application from your new employer; you would have received an acknowledgment from the previous employer. PF will then get transferred.

Fill up Form 19 of the PF Scheme. The same is verified, and details of your contribution are filled by the representative of the employer and sent to the RPFC's office for further processing. This is time-bound.

8.33% of the employer's contribution goes to the Pension, and the Government/PF Department adds 1.16% to it. It is up to you whether you want to withdraw or continue. Fill up Form 10C of the Pension Scheme and proceed with the above process. If you choose not to withdraw, it will be continued later, and you will receive a Certificate of your record.

The principle of Social Security and the virtues of Savings would suggest that you continue. For this, fill up Form 13 of the PF Scheme and hand it over to the Personnel Department of the new employer, who will process the transfer of your existing record to the new employer.
