With India, we are growing. Everything is now online and digital. Corporate Inc. has changed a lot with the use of modern digital technology, etc. So is the case with the government and its systems. Most of the departments of the government have started working online. It seems everything is going to be fair and transparent. I am happy to see the change and the way we are progressing to be one of the great countries on the world map.
Unfortunately, I am still surprised that the effect of the so-called technology in terms of benefits to employees at the bottom level is not seen. It still takes a lot of time for the poor employee to get his PF settled or ESIC issues resolved. When it comes to wages and earnings, there remains a huge bargain in the market to buy talent at the lowest cost and exploit them. Corporate Inc. has the huge responsibility to respect talent, generate talent, and retain talented employees. We look at things from a business perspective and profit-making deals, and hence talent and its development suffer at times.
The HR fraternity, in most cases, looks forward to providing all the support to the business, and most of us see our job as a responsibility towards the company. Therefore, we fear losing our own job and dare not work beyond the management decision. But as HR, we have the responsibility to give the best talent to our company, encourage and sustain such talents, and generate more opportunities for the talented to grow themselves and, in turn, for the company.
Having said all this, I feel like asking: Are we really growing together with the nation? Are our employees at the bottom level (especially employees from the unorganized sector) truly considered in this growth and development race? Do we really have to look back into our education system?
