HI HR members. I am working as DM - HR for a Indian Mfg co. I have received offer from other company which is startup at India but well established at Dubai.
They r offering me with lower designation as HR officer with very slight increase in the salary. The learning at the present co. is not there at present so is the reason for me to move. But confused should i accept this offer as it is demoting my designation and will restart my career. the profile offered seems of lot of learning, but little doubt on the same. Please suggest and advice.

You can request them to retain the same position so that will be better. Some times accepting the lower position might affect in future and it might even benefit your career development also coz you feel as you are getting opportunity for learning. Even learning opportunity is mandatory

I did ask for retaining the position, but they don't have such position in their hierarchy. Initially it was offered for HR Assistant which i have upgraded to Officer. They have promised to upgrade to HRBP role later depending on the performance. So i feel more confused is it good offer to accept at such lower desg, cause i have 7yrs of exp in HR generalist role.

Learning opportunity and challenging opportunity is an important aspect of all jobs.
Nothing wrong with accepting a "demotion" as you term it.
If you pick up the job well,you may go to Dubai also.

I do agree with Mr.Nathrao, but please think well that if you get opportunity to go to Dubai, Will you....
If you are not satisfied with them again you will have to look for change and will you able to show that in resume?

Dear Chandrika, Change is the spice of life, when it is for the betterment and elevation of career. Mere designation cannot give you rewards, when that lacks in knowledge acquisition & management.

1. Only slight increase in salary (2) displacement (3) Lower designation (4) a start up. Is the increase worth the displacement and the new designation ?? Point to be thought of. This involves moving away from members of your family ( unless the family members also are joining ). Why not see the career prospects in your existing company? These are just my thoughts.
