Hi everyone, I'm currently in my 2nd year of an MBA program specializing in HR. What should I do next after completing my MBA? Should I pursue a certification program or consider higher studies? I really need a job, but finding one is not easy, especially as a fresher. Please help me.

Career Planning After MBA in HR

Thinking seriously about a career is the first step to getting employment, and your message amply demonstrates it. I acknowledge you for that!

An MBA in HR itself is a professional course. Unless you have already identified a strong reason and a program that assures you a placement, I do not see much point in adding another degree. Of course, you are the best person to know the same.

Advice for MBA HR Students

1. Prepare well for your campus placement interviews.
2. Work on your communication, confidence, and attitude.
3. If you can pick up industry projects without compromising on your studies, it will give you practical insights and confidence.
4. Build a good social media presence - LinkedIn profile.
5. Pick up one or two professional areas of interest - read, research, and contribute to social media discussions.
6. Interview HR managers on the topic of how to build successful careers, what the industry looks for in freshers, etc.
7. Prepare a nice CV and resume.
8. Be prepared to leave your comfort zone in terms of location, family, and friends if job opportunities are available elsewhere.
9. Actively use online job portals.

All the best!

Regards,
Rajesh
