Dear Seniors,
Need your inputs on the leave policy for a U.S Health care BPO (Pvt) in Chennai.
We have declared different sets of Calendar Holidays to the employees working in Day Shift and US Shift timings.
We are working 5 days through a week.
Kindly help me on the statutory leaves that has to be provided and the break up of such leaves in a year.
Need this immediately as we are framing our leave policy.
Expecting quick guidelines on the same.
Thanks & Regards

BPOs come under the State Shops and Commercial Establishments Act. Therefore, you may follow the leave under the Shops and Commercial Establishments Act. You are free to give additional leaves but as you said 'statutory leaves', you have to follow the said Act and frame your policy in tune with the same in the Act. Itshould be around 12 days casual leave, 12 days of sick leave and 12 days of earned leave (after 12 months of service)
Regarding the holidays also, you have to follow the State (Tamil Nadu) Industrial Establishments (National and Festival Holidays) Act and decide on the number of holidays to be given to the employees. In Tamil Nadu, there are nine holidays of which four are National Holidays which you cannot change but five festival holidays can be decided by you in consultation with your employees and considering the religious and other sentiments like clients visit, their timing etc.
