Hi friends,

I am working with an engineering concern and facing a big problem in recruiting the right kind of candidates. I use job sites for screening and shortlisting the profiles. After shortlisting the profiles and having a preliminary discussion with the shortlisted candidates, I speak to the concerned manager and fix an appointment for an interview. I then inform the candidate about the interview date. Additionally, I send an email to the shortlisted candidates regarding the interview date, time, and venue, and ask them to send me a confirmation email once they receive my message. However, some candidates confirm via email but fail to show up for the interview.

How can I avoid such issues? I require your feedback.

Regards,
Sowmya

Hi Sowmya,

'No Shows' are a common issue during the recruitment process. I suggest you have enough backup profiles. Also, talk to those who didn't turn up and check their alternate availability. If feasible, conduct a first-level telephonic interview and call them for the second round in person. They are sure to meet you as per the schedule.

Cheers,
Naveen

Hi Sowmya,

It happens in such industry types, as everyone is rushing for a position in IT/ITES companies. As Naveen said, you could try his suggestions and also proceed with the consultancies that have a relative number of candidates to lessen the burden in your recruitment process.

Best of luck
