Agreed with Prashant, wages has to be paid on 26 day basis as because the working days in a month is 26 rather than 30 or 31 days as 4 days are rest days. thanks & regards, Sumit

Inquiry About Payment for 26 Days Under the Factory Act of 1948

Sorry, I know little English, but I work in the personnel department. I want to ask, is the payment for 26 days of work decided by the Factory Act of 1948 or not?

Wages should be paid for whole days, i.e., 30, 31, 28, or 29, including Sundays and holidays. If you work for 26 days, you should be paid for 30/31/28/29 days (including Sundays). If there is any loss of pay, the wages should be calculated for 30/31/28/29 days. For example, if the salary is Rs. 5000 in the month of January, Rs. 5000 should be divided by 31 * the number of days absent. This is the correct method because we pay for Sundays and holidays as well; we do not deduct wages for holidays.

Dear Subbarao, I think you are mixing with wages and salary. Wages(workers) based on 26 days and salary(employees) based on full days of the month. I agree with Prashant and Sumit. Sincerely, Mimu143

Dear Subbarao ji, government rule says that company give only 26 days wages and 4or 5 days holidays so if we calculate per day wage so we have to divided by 26 days to total month wages.

To answer your query, I would like to mention that wages are paid to labor on a daily basis (per day wage rate x number of days worked), while salary is paid to employees (workers or staff) on a monthly basis (30 or 31 days). Therefore, please verify whether you have hired workers on a daily wage or monthly salary basis.

Thank you.
Regards.
