Dear All,
Are there any legal provisions to know or obtain the union membership particulars under the Trade Union Act? I have heard that we can obtain this information from the DCL - Trade Union Registrar. Is there a possibility to access these particulars? If so, how can we obtain them?

The membership details of all registered unions will be available with the concerned Registrar of Trade Unions in the State concerned. One can approach him and get a copy of the same.
Normally, the Deputy Commissioner of Labour or other such officer of the State Government holds the charge of Registrar of Trade Unions as well.

Generally, unions receive contributions from employees' salaries through direct deductions to establish a stronger legal foothold within the union. Management then transfers these deductions to the union. All employees who are union members provide an undertaking to management, facilitated through the union, for the deduction from their salaries and subsequent remittance to the union's account.
