Dear pranali,
The basic quality of the Bullet Proof Manager, I think he should be patient, when he fired and critically examined by the customer. The critics always provide to a way for the solution of the problems in any time. Secondly, we have learnt so many things in books with theoritical examples, but the face to face practical situations are always critical to handel but after the practice it also be handled with smartness and the exchange information with good communication channels with the bosses and customers and respect to their views also provide great help to became a bullet proof manager. I request you, kindly send your project after its complition, so that I can also know more about to became such kind of Manager.

Hi,

Bullet Proof Manager - Good title. How this is applicable only to a Manager? To me this is applicable to all individuals who are facing the customers directly. Earlier, we use have only Sales taking a the bite. With changing business needs, every person has a customer. Some have internal and others have external.

Some of the things that a person should have up his sleeves to face crisis or conditions which are:

1. Work closely with your Manager. Keep him informed even smallest of the things that you are doing. Pamper him with things which are going right and wrong. By doing so, he is aware and does not say, "You should have informed me earlier" or " What have you done to close this issue".

2. Work alternate plans. Provide various solutions to customer to resolve the issue or need. That is the need of the hour.

3. As a manager, be clear in setting expectation to his / her customer. What is possible and what needs help to close...

4. Inform of short comings as early as possible to the customer / clients. For example; if sales is not going to meet his target, the company is not going to accept. He / she can strategly, share the challenges that are being faced in the quartely review. By doing this, every one is aware that targets are slipping this year. Plan alternatives to achieve.

5. Be ready to take responsbilities of the mistakes and be aggressive in finding a long term solution in setting rather than a shorterm one to handle the crisis.

These are some of them. There can be many more.

Hope this helps you.

thank you for your reply.
what you are talking is correct but those are preventive measures. what i am looking for is what a manager can do in the situation of crisis. what things he has to do, how he has to react, what way he has to behave how he has to handle the situation using his leadership skills. what are the attributes his leadership skills should have to deal with that kind of siyuation.....
i hope you understood my question very well.
if any one have such kind of experience plz share it with me it will be great help for me.
regards,
pranali
