Hi,

Thanks for going through my problem and giving me your valuable suggestions. Here, everyone has recommended me to be positive. Well! i am still positive but get frustrated at time as like when you apply for some corporate jobs you generally don't get the replies and when you personally meet them for interview if scheduled any, then they found it strange that how come you have so much gap. I had given one interview in BPO last year, they also show concern on gap and package. Although i told them that they can provide me package as per their set standards. But all in vein as they put me on hold. That is the reason i had mention that should i make a fresh start without showing any experience.i know the reason of phobia its because when things don't get materialise u start getting afraid of rejection.

Well! i am not choosy but yes, hard core sales was something i always avoid and this is one thing which always come my way, even my seniors recommend me the same in my exit rounds. So, i had tried my hand in various Admin(data management, making presentations, coordination) and HR( Data search for candidate, interview lineups, reference checks) functions in my previous jobs apart from my own work.High remuneration is not on my top priority list and I don't believe in dream job concept, I am simply looking for stable job with good working environment.

What kind of jobs should i apply now? Should i mention my experience or not?

Thanks & Regards

Dear Seema Sodhi,

Going by your CV and your preferences, it appears to me that you have to put on some more confidence in you. Believe IN YOU and only YOU. There is no point in brooding or get laid on the past. Wake up and face come what may. What Phobia it's nothing but illusion for the simple reason that you won so many interviews and was employed not once but many a time. You did not remain unemployed since you came out of college. You have done PGD, served many firms but honestly you are short listing opportunities coming in your way, that's the truth. So don't tell us stories. Get set and go. You'll get what you want, unless you search and attend how you can bag it ? Teaching ? I got my own doubt, nowadays without a minimum of PG with M.Phil or P.hd. it's not possible, which you don't have, correct me if I'm wrong.

I feel you are good at marketing & sales, a domain which can employ millions. Already some of citeHR friends enquired about you. But search and get what is closest to your heart. I think you can fill the gap by adding one more employer/experience (like freelancer for event management etc.), quite simple, ask your friends to help.

All the best pal.

Dear Seema, you have been well advised in the previous comments. Take a job that is closely related to what you would like to do. Do not look at a high position or worry about your qualifications versus your role. Just go out and take a job even if it is temporary or unpaid. Start interviewing and think of these as your practice sessions for the job that you would really wish to get. Your focus now should be to get back into the professional environment, spend your first salary imitating the attire of the successful colleagues and similarly attend to your grooming. Listen to the BBC programmes to improve your diction and fluency in English. Join a local toastmasters club to improve communication skills and build confidence. Success will come to anyone who will work hard and be passionate about you are doing.

How to justify your gap period ? Think about all your achievements in the past few years - you helped somebody, engaged in studies, travelled, etc. and build a story around this that you can happily share with your interviewer. The key word is happily. nobody likes a depressed person and a good way to boost your mood is to start working out or going for long walks which will help your frustration. It is your life and if you decide to take a break from the working world, nobody can dispute your decision but you must be positive while conveying it and if well conveyed, the interviewer will not spend too much time on this as he will assess you during your probation.

Bear in mind that the interviewer infront of you is also under tremendous pressure to recruit the right person or his job and credibility is at stake. He is also trying hard to achieve recognition with his colleagues and management. If you convince him about how you can help the company and the reason why he should recruit you, you will put him at ease. Bear in mind in addition to qualifications, the interviewer is looking for a person he can work with, whose attitude will be a perfect fit for the company culture.

Remember, if others can do it, so can you. Best wishes for all success which is just round the corner for you.

Madam,
Just to identify few things : there are many compannies who will take you as fresher, also many companies who will not bothered about the gap and also many companies are there who will not react or not worried about your gap, they only consider the talent within you. they only consider your appraoch towards accomplishments, they only consider about committments based with confidence.
So all the best for your progress. may god bless you with a satisfactory lifestyle further.
