Employee Recognition Quotes

Recognition is essentially positive feedback that lets employees know they are valued and appreciated by their coworkers and the organization. To have the greatest impact in the workplace, recognition activities should also reinforce and encourage work that advances employee, departmental, and/or institutional goals and values.

A very good compilation of quotes. Recognition is a booster to uplift a person's spirits. It motivates him to do better things. Thanks for the post.

Good compilation and thanks for sharing. My take on these quotes is how to translate these statements into actionable behavior that ultimately drives the behavior that we want to see.

Example of Effective Recognition

Take, for example, the quote: “Truly effective recognition is not a program or a policy mandated by HR; it is a way of organizational life that touches all corners of the organization most every day of the working week.”

In my company, we incorporate "mindfulness & gratification" in our daily routine by:

1. You may be familiar with this game "I spy with my little eyes..." - so in the company, when team members spot or experience value-driven behaviors by another team member, they write it down on a colorful post-it pad and pin it on the "Appreciation Wall." By doing so, the receiver receives immediate recognition for the right behavior; he or she will not only want to continue these right behaviors but also strive to do even better. The giver will also feel the same way too. At the end of the month, a tally is done to see who is the overall winner. Now, the catch is this - no monetary reward is given out to the winner as we do not want to create unhealthy competition and also an "entitlement mentality." The reward given is actually a "bright yellow Mr. Smiley" to be pinned at the winner's desk. Staff pride themselves on these Mr. Smileys!

Please allow me to suggest that for future respondents to this original post, other than appreciating Fayyaz Qazi's contribution, also share examples and experiences so that the rest can benefit from it too.

Have a positive weekend!
