Hi Friends,

I have a problem with my company. I have been working there for the past two years, and my elder sister was also in the same company. She left the company five months ago as a volunteer exit. However, after five months, my company has not provided any full and final amount or PF amount. I am aware that PF should be received within 45 days of applying. I am still fighting for her FNF amount and PF amount. Every time I inquire, my HR always mentions that it is still in processing. What should I do in this situation? Please help and guide me in the right direction.

Regards,
Eklavya Raj

Dear Eklavya,

The employer starts processing the PF withdrawal after 2 months of non-employment, and the PF department takes another 45 days to transfer the amount to the specified bank account. If the above-mentioned time period has already passed, and your employer is not responsive to this matter, then write a letter to the Regional PF Office, under which your PF code falls, making a copy to the PF Commissioner as well.

Regarding your Full and Final settlement (F n F), there may be some issues with clearances or other matters. I suggest meeting with your designated HR contact at your office to inquire about the current status of the F n F issue. If you do not receive a positive response, ask your sister to email the Head of HR of your company, copying your Branch Head and the relevant HR contact at your office.

All the best...

Thank you, sir, for your reply. Can you please tell me, we are from Amritsar, Punjab, and our PF account is from Bandra, Mumbai, Maharashtra. Which PF IDs has my company provided to us, as they are showing as invalid on the EPF website and also at their Bandra Branch? My concerned HR is not providing the correct IDs. Every time I ask them, they say we are contacting the Head Office in Mumbai. They will email us. Can you please guide me on how I can obtain the original PF IDs from an external source if I do not have any contacts in the head office of our company.

  • There are 100 reasons to reject a claim. I am also waiting for my PF claim for more than two years. People say I have to visit and take care of personnel at the PF office. I would rather wait and lose the amount than pay unduly. I worked at Mahindra Reva in Bengaluru.

    Hi Eklayva,

Nowadays, the processing time of PF is very smooth. The maximum time period is 30 days, but I am hearing from our ex-employees that they are receiving the PF amount within 7 days through NEFT once the PF claim forms have been submitted to the concerned PF office. Furthermore, they update the status to the member through SMS as well on the mobile number provided by the member on the PF forms. Alternatively, you can check with this link: EPFO <link updated to site home>

After clicking "Click Here for the status," please choose the state where your company's PF A/C is registered, then click on the PF office. You'll find the first two are the state & PF office code respectively. Then in the third column, put your company PF code, aka establishment code, then leave the next column blank and put your PF A/C number in the last column and then enter. You'll get the status. If no record is showing, then it means either the HR has not submitted your claim forms or your PF account doesn't exist.

There are only two PF forms required to be submitted when an employee quits and applies for PF withdrawal benefits:

    1. Form 19, and

    2. Form 10(C)

You need to fill out this form and sign wherever three signatures on the second page of Form 19 where "Signature or Left/Right thumb impression of the member" is written. Also, affix a Rs. 1 revenue stamp with your signature thereon.

Similarly, in Form 10(C), fill out the form properly, sign on the second page, and affix a Rs. 1 revenue stamp in the space provided thereon.

Along with the PF forms, enclose a canceled check of yours where your PF has to be transferred.

For further assistance, you can also email me at .

Please meet with your HR head or your company director if no response is received. Nowadays, employees can also see the PF e-passbook, where every month's contribution is shown. So, you can also check your status there.

    Dear Seniors,

    Greetings!

My name is J. Raju. Previously, I had worked with an organization on a contractual basis. There, they used to deduct some amount as my PF contribution from my salary. Due to some personal problems, I left that job. Now, I want to withdraw the amount. For that reason, I had asked them about my PF account number. However, the account number they are providing is invalid, as per the PF office. Can you please suggest what I should do? How can I withdraw that amount? I worked there for a period of 10 months and left the organization in the year 2009. Will I be able to get back that money or not? Please guide me.

    Regards,

    Dear Yash,

Who told you that an employee can choose not to deduct PF from his salary? Deduction of PF is mandatory for all. I am attaching some documents on the PF Act of 1952. Please have a look.

    Mr. Raju,

Please inform your previous employer about this matter and once again ask for the correct PF Code. If you receive any proper response, then meet with an official from the PF Department.

Yes, I agree that the deduction is mandatory but only in case the employee's basic salary is less than or equal to 6500. Am I right about this? If the employee pays the employer's part as well, then what will be the benefit for the employee? I mean, what are the rest of the policies regarding this in terms of interest rate, and will this PF be the same as what other employees are getting or different? Also, what amount will be deducted from the account? Please clarify.

    Thank you.

    Dear Mr. Gopalakrishnan,

I am really surprised to note that your PF settlement is pending for the past 2 years. The PF office generally settles the claim within 30-45 days, and the claims are reviewed by the respective PF commissioners at specified time intervals. In the event the PF office is unable to process the claim for want of any information, they immediately return the claim seeking information. In your case, it is possible that your employer has received your PF claim returned by the respective PF office for want of clarification. There is no necessity for you to grease the palms of anyone in the PF office. The process is relatively transparent these days. You need to write to the PF office seeking the status of your claim, and you will get a reply from them. Alternatively, you can seek information from your previous employer. I am sure that the claim is locked up somewhere for want of information. Generally, the PF officials seek Form 3A, the period of break in service during the period of service with the employer, proof of age in respect of the claimant, photocopy of the bank passbook duly certified by the employer, etc. Please check immediately as inactive accounts may not earn interest.
