(Fact Checked)-The probation period for senior management executives like CEO, VP, or COO is not typically applicable due to their high-ranking positions. They are usually directly hired without a probationary period. It's important to have clear terms in their contracts instead. (1 Acknowledge point)

  • Dear Ms. Pooja,

There is always a plan that includes an intervening interview phase and a probationary period decided for that position by the other top management. In addition, the probationary period assigned to the CEO is explicit for a limited period where he significantly takes the reins. Therefore, check with your management for the timeline and requirements accordingly.

    Hi,

There are no standard norms for the probation period; it depends on management discretion. They can determine the period based on the level of designations/roles. All terms and conditions for specific designations must align with the expectations of management and the organization's objectives for these roles.

    Hi Pooja!

Generally, all employees are covered by probation rules. However, based on company practices, executives are usually under a special employment arrangement. Among the practices in my country are Day 1 regular, shortened probation, target-based, contractual/per project, etc.

    Hope this helps.

It entirely depends upon the terms of engagement. Though CEO, WTD, M.D., etc., are also supposed to be covered by the probationary period, usually in most organizations they are not covered. Even the punching of attendance cards is also not applied in their cases. To maintain uniformity in rules, they should also be covered because, after all, they are also employees of the organizations.

    Hi,

This is purely a management decision. In most companies, they usually follow a probation clause as described below:

    - Officers / Executives: 1-year probation
    - Manager and above: 6-month probation
    - VP / CEO / COO: Direct employment without any probation period

The duration of probation may vary from industry to industry. The attendance policy is uniform for all since it is statutory.

    Thanks & Regards,
