Hi Team,
Please suggest how to handle the situation when candidate take the offer letter and on the last day he/she called and inform that they are not joining.
Recently we faced a situation that a person Vedpal from bangalore informed us on the last day, that he is not joining.
They use this offer letter for a bargaining purpose in their company or for counter offer.
Warm Regards

Hi Rashmi,
This is the most common problem that a recruiter faces. Some of the steps which you can take are as under:
1. Try to negotiate notice period rather giving a month’s time.
2. If possible remove the compensation clause from offer letter since this will reduce resign and renegotiate instances.
3. Give more offers personally rather then sending on the mails as this will help you to study the candidate’s body language and interest level.
4. Add a clause that the offer will automatically terminate in case you do not submit accepted resignation in 48 hours.
5. Devise two three forms which a candidate has to fill between date of offer and date of joining. The purpose is to keep checking his interest in your offer
These techniques have worked well for me and I hope will be useful for you too.

Hi Karuna,
You can design HRIS form, which may include candidate's personal details, Educational details, Previous employment details and Dependents details. You may also ask the candidate to produce his Identity proof, previous employement documents, Address proofs etc.
This will not only keep the candidate engaged and will show his interest towards the offered position but also provide you enough evidences for his successful pre-employment background verification.
