Is Piece-Rate Work in Factories Subject to PF and ESI? Let's Discuss!


Hi all, Please suggest on the followings :- a) Is piece rate work is allowable in factory premises or not ? b) Is PF and ESI is appplicable on piece rate work? Regards. M Rajesh

Piece rate work is allowable in factory premises. Yes it is also applicable for ESI and PF

    • Employees receiving a daily average wage up to Rs.70/- (w.e.f 1-8-07) are exempted from payment of contribution. Employers will, however, contribute their own share in respect of these employees. PF is exempted because the job is not permanent in nature.
