Dear friends, I am coming back to India from the Gulf and I want to buy gifts (watches, perfumes, sweets) for my family members and friends. Please guide me if there is any customs duty on these items at our airport or what are the maximum limits for these at Mumbai airport for exemption from customs duty.

As per my knowledge, it is Rs 25,000/- and not Rs 12,500/-. Just recently, I had been to Nigeria. While returning to India and before landing at Bangalore Airport, the airlines gave us a form to fill out. In the form, the value mentioned was Rs 25,000/-. This amount includes all sorts of articles like liquor, tobacco, electronic goods, etc.
Thanks,
