Hi All, I submitted my resignation on the 2nd of August. As per company policy, I am required to serve a 30-day notice period, but we also have the option to buy out this notice period. I am wondering if it is possible to serve only a 15-day notice period and buy out the remaining 15 days with the same salary. Your prompt response to this query would be greatly appreciated as this matter is urgent.

Refer your appointment conditions. I think no employer will mention the buyout of N.Period of such short period 30 days. Pon

Buyout is paying money equivalent to the salary of N.Period in stead of serving in N.Period and it is apllicable to bothe employers & employees. Pon

You can definitely do that. Mention in your resignation letter, "I request you to relieve me at the close of working hours on 10/08/2011 (date)." Let management decide if they want to deduct 15 days' salary in lieu of the notice period. Remember, they can deduct 15 days of basic pay only.
