Hi Lizy,

I am Lizy Thomas. I am working as a staff nurse at Jeevan Hospital, Gate #1, Jeewan Nagar Ashram, New Delhi. I have been working at this hospital since December 1994. I submitted my resignation letter on May 11, 2007, but I have not received my gratuity yet.

The hospital authority has only submitted my Provident Fund (PF) details from 1999 onwards. I am unsure about how to determine my gratuity amount and what steps I should take to receive my gratuity and PF from 1994.

Could you please guide me on how to calculate my gratuity and provide me with clarity on this matter?

Thank you,
Lizy

Dear Friend,

I am Moses. I have seen your mail. First of all, can you tell me in which year the PF amount was recovered from you? Did you receive the annual statement of PF, i.e., Form 23, for all the years?

Nothing to worry about. Please submit another form for withdrawal for the period from 1994 to 1999, stating that you had not received the PF for the above-mentioned period.

Secondly, the method of calculating gratuity is as follows:
(Basic + DA salary) / 26 days X 15 X number of years of services.

Gratuity eligibility: after 5 years of joining, 6 months can be treated as one year. Now you can calculate the exact amount of gratuity applicable to you.

Moses Alphonse
