Dear Seniors,
In my Company the Business head is playing politics with everyone including the Boss but he is very clever he knows how to wash the brains so boss believes him & he shows boss only the things which he wants to show him & that to in his own way, behind him he do back bitting of boss only & if boss gives preference to anyone he then tries to spoil the image of that person in his sight. So likewise I am also enable to say anything about him to boss though i know about everything. So guide me what should i do i am thinking to leave this company.

Anupma, Politics is everywhere. No company is run without politics. Handle them deftly. Leaving is not the solution. Pon

Dear Anupma,
Leaving an organization is not a right solution, because when you will join another organization there you will again face such people.
so better to take this as a challenge and try to solve this problem rather than to run away.
remember, Actions are louder than Words...so your words to your boss regarding that person is not enough...it is more important to create a such situation that you boss can see him while he is back biting against the boss or doing such other unethical stuff like this.
Dont say anything wrong to your boss, just keep yourself at the safe side and on the other hand show to him naturally what he is actually doing on his back.
Best wishes Anupma

Dear Anupma Sihag
1) Kindly do let me know the reason as why you want to update your boss about the DIRTY TACTICS of your BUSINESS HEAD?
2) In what way you can help your organisation by updating your boss against your BUSINESS HEAD?
3) Have you analyze the LOSS incurred by your organisation for which you can blame your BUSINESS HEAD?
4) What is your role in your organisation?
5) Do you think that, if you update your boss, your organisation will be benefited through your suggestions?
Looking forward to hear from you at the earliest..
With profound regards

Hi Anupama,
I read one article in Economic Times, how every corporate house is involved in office politics, be it anything, back biting, unhealthy competition or rude bosses...
here is an excerpt from the article:
Politics is a reality you cannot avoid; species such as devilish bosses, backbiting colleagues and annoying subordinates will always be omnipresent. The trick is how you work around them to make your career skyrocket. Politics in some workplaces can get vicious though - and we're not referring to our netas' offices. Power and influence-management in your company will always be a part of your career, whether you have the temperament for it or not.
You can read the entire article at: Tips to deal with office politics - ET Slide Shows - Features - The Economic Times
Hope it will show you a right path..in what to do...

office politics, can anyone avoid it?!?! as long as an organization is run by human beings there is going to the human element involved to spice up your life and stay in an organization and that element sad to say is POLITICS.
Politics is what some people use to stay ahead in the game, some who don't know how to play clean, politics can be vicious and can eat up those who don't know how to stay in the game or play the game..... if you are young and dont have much experience working this is going to come to you as a rude shock from the real big bad world, but its better to realize that just like we breath to live, some people play games to survive. Learn to survive and then thrive amongst these sharks!!! I'm exaggerating a bit :)) only one word of advice, you don't have to become like them.... stay in the game, by being good at what you do and being smart/shrewd.... develop foresight and use every experience as opportunity to grow in learning how to handle them better the next time, this is a good training ground, who knows you might evolve as a strong leader of the future!!
Talent and Good work cannot be hidden for too long, I had a colleague who played such hard politics behind my back, he nearly got the MD to believe that i was redundant, until one day- he was THROWN out, within half hour, for cheating and lying to the organization and I was awarded the Employee of the month, and promoted with a good sal.

GOOD LUCK
