Hi respected members, I have completed my MBA with HR and Marketing from JNTU (H) in September 2010. Currently, I am pursuing an M.Sc. in Applied Psychology at Annamalai University. I have attended around 40-55 interviews in Hyderabad (and still attending) where every interviewer advises me to attend more interviews and improve my communication skills in order to secure a job.

The Importance of Communication Skills in Job Interviews

My question is, why do companies emphasize effective communication skills when they advertise job positions in various recruitment channels? I understand the importance of global communication, but I believe there should be more encouragement and selection of candidates with average communication skills.

Thank you.

The Importance of Communication Skills in Job Acquisition

Communication skills are indeed crucial for securing a job. The primary role of an HR and marketing executive involves interacting with employees and customers, understanding their problems and needs, and addressing them effectively. Without communication, you cannot identify or solve these issues. Therefore, organizations prioritize communication skills during recruitment. It's important to work on enhancing these skills. Don't worry, engaging in conversations with friends and neighbors will certainly help improve your abilities. All the best.

Hi Mahipal, Getting well-versed in good communication skills is not a big deal. Don't worry. As rightly said by Aneetha, communication skills are a must, no matter where you go. Try to communicate more with your friends on debatable topics and also read books to increase your vocabulary.

What position are you applying for? From the way you have described your case, it doesn't seem like you would be that bad at communicating. However, you can keep practicing more with friends who can really help you out. All the best.

Kinjal.
