Dear seniors,
At times of leaving an organization, an employee has to serve the notice period. My question is, in general, from when does this period start or how is it calculated? Is it from the date of acceptance of resignation or from the date of resignation (the day the employee writes and submits his/her resignation)?
Please shed some light on this.
Thanks & regards,
N

The notice period actually starts from the day an employee resigns. However, nowadays, many companies count the notice period from the date the resignation is acknowledged or accepted. This practice is particularly common in IT sectors.
Thank you.

Thank you, Mahesh,
I still feel that if it is just acknowledgment, then it is okay. What about acceptance of it? I have experienced a lot that, in many cases, either authorities accept or keep silent on it. If they don't wish to accept it because it was not desired or not in favor of the organization/work, they don't revert or acknowledge.
Anyways, thanks to you. You mean ideally it should count from the day an employee resigned.
