Hi friends,

I am Arun from Chennai. I have just completed my MBA specialized in HR. I would like to clarify my doubt, i.e., should a fresher start his career in a consultancy firm or in a corporate.

Waiting for your valuable suggestions.

Regards,
Arun

Hi, i suggest, as a fresher you should start with a corporate where u are solely working for that organisation to have indepth experience, this way your concepts would be clear..

Hi there,

Consultancy is a broad field that requires a lot of corporate experience to provide effective advice to your clients. Therefore, it would be much better to have at least 5 years of corporate experience first, which can then be fully utilized in consultancy.

Hi Arun,

I'm Minakshi, an MBA HR professional who started working as a recruiter in a consultancy. I must tell you that the experience is great because when you come to know the requirements of your client, you can discuss with them about your area of interest. Create a rapport with your client, not just using your smiles but with your work. Provide good service to your client, fix regular meetings with them, and you will learn many more things, not only about your current job but also about your future in HR. This has been my experience. Slowly, you will start receiving calls from companies for senior positions, and you can pursue those opportunities. The rest is up to you, as the future is in your hands. If you keep waiting for a call from an MNC, you are simply wasting your time. Utilize your time and start gaining experience in your profession. Once you get into any job, you will naturally seek more and that's how you will understand your job and perform well. Always remember to stay determined, keep your mind filled with fun, seek enjoyment in your work, and every day will be a great day for you.

Best of luck.

Keep Smiling :)

Hi Minakshi,

Thanks for your reply. I was in confusion, but now I am very clear. I am working in a consultancy in Chennai. May I know in which consultancy you are employed? My job is going well. How many months have you been working in a consultancy? 😄 Thanks for your reply.

Have a nice day.

Hi Arun,

It's a great pleasure to help somebody in need. I'm glad that you find it positive and helpful for you. I'm in NEXT Consultancy, Hyderabad branch, which also has a branch in Chennai. It's been just two months since I joined here, and I'm a Recruitment Consultant.

Best of luck! 😊

Thanks & Regards,

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I am working in Brains 'N' Skills consultancy. I am into NON-IT recruitment; it's tough, yaar. I am looking after the marketing department. In which branch are you engaged?

My company will soon be in Hyderabad as well. I have seen your company's address; I have also started receiving emails after joining this company. Can you please share your email id? Thank you for your help.

Regards,
Arun

Have a nice week ahead.

Hi Arun,

My advice to you is to start your career with a corporate setting. It will help you learn all HR activities. In consultancy, you will only perform one activity, most likely for a third person.
