Hello. Please can anyone share a sample indemnity letter? I need one to be signed by the new employee's referee. My boss wants to ensure that the referee will be liable to refund any losses that the company incurs as a result of the actions of the employee. Thanks you!

What do you mean by indemnity letter from a referee? Do you mean a letter from the referee that the candidate is known to him and that if he is appointed he will take complete ownership of him while employed in some one's company and that if that employer incurs any loss due to the said employee, he will indemnify the employer of such losses? How can you ask for such an indemnity letter?

I do not think that it is possible because, no person can take ownership of any other person who is not related to him (even related person), perhaps known to him. Being a Personnel Manager I have a data base of so many employees of which many are extremely good at work and conduct. But I can not say when his attitude changes. Human behaviour will change without our expectation. A good worker today may become a bad worker due to various reasons.

In view of this how can one give a letter stating that such and such person is known to me for the last so many years and if he is employed in your establishment and subsequently you suffer any loss due to the conduct of him, I shall compensate or indemnify you.
