Hi everyone!

Hope you are all doing well. I kindly request you all to please clarify or explain the leave procedure as it is confusing to me.

1. How many CL/SL/EL does a company provide to employees?
2. If an employee doesn't take any leave during the financial year, what happens in that case?
3. Is it necessary to carry forward the balance leave? If not, then what happens to that balance of leaves? Do balanced leaves turn into EL?

Please clarify my concept regarding leave. If there are any other points that I need to know, please guide me.

I look forward to hearing from you seniors.

Thanks with regards,
Deepa

Dear Deepa,

Leave policy is not the same for every company. We are a KPO. In our company, we provide 6 CL and 6 SL in one year from January to December. The CLs remaining do not carry over, but the remaining SLs are added up in the next year. Additionally, employees are entitled to 18 PLs after completing one year with the company, and these are carried forward each year.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Hi friends,

I am very happy to write this message to all. I am new to this citehr and I want to learn new things using this site from members. I have some doubts in the preparation of PF Challan. Even though I have worked on this, kindly correct it the same. Here, I have attached the files.

Secondly, in our organization, we have not paid some members' PF for March, April, May, and June, and those PF arrears - we want to pay them next month. Should we make these payments in one challan or use a separate challan for each month? Kindly clarify my doubts at the earliest. Please.

Thank you all, dearest HRs.

Dear Seema,

I hope you are doing fine.

EL/ CL/ SL policies normally vary from company to company. The law does not say anything about CL and SL but clearly states that for every 240 days of working in a particular year, an employee is entitled to 12 days of EL in the next year (i.e., 1 day for each 20 days worked). If you want to know more about EL, please refer to Section 79 of the Factories Act 1948.

If an employee does not take leaves during the year, his/her CL lapses and is not carried forward. As far as SL and EL are concerned, both can be accumulated and carried forward to the next year and so on and so forth. However, SL cannot be encashed, whereas EL can be either at the end of every year or after superannuation as per company policy.

It depends on the company policy again. CL cannot be carried forward, but normally SL and EL are carried forward. The law is quite clear that EL can be accumulated to a maximum of 30 days for adult workers. Balance leave cannot be converted into EL. It either lapses or gets carried forward.

For more understanding on leave, go through Section 79 of the Factories Act.

Hope this serves your purpose.

I have gone through the P.F. challan and found that the calculation of wages for A/C No. 10 is shown wrongly. Kindly correct the same. Also, the staff number mentioned is 40, but the details available are only for 10. The period and other details are also not available.
