Dear All,
Today's ET reads that Air India is applying HR cost cutting measures like sending employees on leave without pay upto the duration of 5 years!
Well, this is a good measure in which employee can retain there employment(though without pay!) and at the same time there is no monthly salary burdon on employer. But how to implement it? What to take care on legal side, employee communication side to the successful implementation of this measure? Is not like a layoff mentioned in Industrial Dispute Act? How the worker(blue collar) and staff(white collar and managerial) are affected due to this measure?
Views, thoughts, inputs, information are highly appreciated.

I hope there is no compliance, even my company is planning to do the same. Can some one please let me know if as a HR i need to give something in writting to the employees in regards to this.
