Dear Friends,

I have been working in a consultancy for the past year. I would like to know what the future holds for recruitment. Is it better to transition to a corporate role after gaining some experience? How many years of experience would be considered sufficient? What are the future prospects in both consultancy and corporate settings?

Thank you.

Hi!

It will be better to make a move to corporate, but if you are very much comfortable with recruitment, then you can consider a career as a Recruiter with some good executive search firms like ABC, Fact, ET.

Hope you got the point.

Best wishes,

That's a very limited view of what you do, Ram. Both technically and otherwise, consulting firms are no less a corporate entity. If you are talking about getting into a line HR (support function) role as compared to the business function (as a recruiter), it's fine. It's a choice you make on what kind of learning and growth you're looking for. If you're looking for a comfortable job, perhaps your supposed corporate move makes sense. But if you're looking at enhancing your employability in quantum leaps, this shouldn't even be in your consideration. Especially when the staffing industry is still in its nascent stages... I would imagine you're in the right place, Ram Prakash.

Dear Ram,

Recruitment is becoming a core function, and Technical Recruiter is currently one of the most sought-after roles, whether in IT/ITES Corporates or in reputable Consultancies. For example, I have been actively looking to hire skilled Recruiters and have been facing significant challenges in finding the right candidates. Therefore, I encourage you to consider pursuing a career in recruitment and become a proactive Recruiter.

Thanks,
