Hi,
All of us know that the technical guys are always interested in onsite opportunities. They have ample chances to go onsite for shorter/longer durations with any of the IT companies. However, I have never heard of any HR person going onsite for a client meet/interaction. So, do you think that these onsite opportunities are never made for HR professionals like us? Let's share our views.
Thanks,

Hi Sanket,
Onsite opportunities for HR are comparatively low as HR's main customers/clients are within the organization itself. HR's clients are employees, trainees, and the entire management within the organization. There is no scope wherein HR is required to get in frequent contact with the company's external customers. So that's the main reason I feel that HR professionals do not have many onsite opportunities.
HR ensures external client satisfaction by satisfying its internal clients.

Hi Sanket,
Though opportunities for HR professionals to go onsite are less compared to some other professions, the practice of sending HR professionals onsite is seen in many organizations. HR professionals can be sent onsite for training programs, deputations on professional assignments, business meetings, etc.
Thank you.

Hi,
Normally, the first preference should go to HR professionals because they are the key personnel of the business. They should be sent onsite first to understand the business perspective and budgeting clearly. All HR professionals should have the opportunity to experience this at least once with their current employer.
Cheers,
