Thanks a lot Mr. Roulette for your prompt response.
Still i need some clarification. We generally give 10 to 20 percentage salary increment for middle and senior level employees. But what shud be the average percentage hike for freshers and executive level positions.
Because 20% increment adds up a big amount to the salary for senior people and the same hike for a junior developer with lesser salary does not adds up much.
So my question is should we have different percentage ratings for specific level.
Please aquaint me with current industry practices.

Mr. Spanda,
Usually, there could be a formula for granting increments based on performance evaluation.
The formula will assign weightage points to factors such as (i) employee performance (as assessed in the performance evaluation sheet); (ii) department (project) performance; (iii) company profits (turnover in some cases); (iv) experience of the employee (optional); (v) longeivity with the organization (optional); and (vi) trends of market compensation for similar positions.
As per the formula, the increments may be given ensuring that every one gets about 5% minimum and maximum up to 25% or so.

Dr. Kishore

Dear Dr. Kishore...Thanks for sharing your thoughts. BUt my query is a different.
Let me cite a hypothetical example. Suppose ther has been performance evaluation persons of different levels - one senior manager of salary 14L P/A, other a middle manager of salary 6L p/A and other a junior programmer having salary 2.4L P/A.
If they got same ratings for their respective performance what should be increment percentage for each of them. Should it be same?
