Hi Everyone,

I have a query. I am an HR professional with 4.5 years of experience in HR. I am planning to pursue my PG in HR. I have two options in mind. One is a PG in HR from Symbiosis through Distance Learning, and the other is an Executive MBA of 16 months from ITM through a weekend batch.

Distance Learning will involve online assignments and exams, whereas ITM will consist of lectures and projects. I am confused about which option will be better and have better credentials in the industry. I would appreciate it if seniors could help me out.

Hi Jaya,

I can tell you about Symbiosis. In Symbiosis, there is a simple process of assignments and exams. Its books are also in very simple language and useful. It is worth doing for a working person because sometimes you have time, and sometimes you don't. Suppose you have an exam, and on the same day, there is an urgent meeting in your office. What will you do? In Symbiosis, you can choose your exam, assignment date, and time. I did it, and it was very simple, helpful, and easy.

I would suggest you decide based on your working pressure. But according to my knowledge, you may opt for a distance course as you have nice experience in the same, and one cannot manage it due to work.

All the best, take care :-)

Hi Jaya,

I partly agree with Swati, i.e., you have to choose one among the two according to your work pressure. But I think you should opt for ITM as you mentioned that there will be projects and lectures on the weekend. It will be helpful as you will find a good range of people with similar interests like yours, and it will allow you to explore more as a seeker and contributor. As a knowledge seeker, you can gain a lot not only from the lectures but also from your batchmates as they contribute their experiences and knowledge. As a contributor, you can share your experiences and knowledge. I think this will be a better option.

Thanks,
Madhu

First you need to check which course you can do with your daily official schdule and than think for the best option.

Hi Jaya,

I agree with Madhu. I am also in favor of you joining the Executive MBA. You get to interact with people and have professors for guidance, and it's almost like a normal MBA. I have come across some MNCs insisting on full-time MBAs.

I agree that Symbi has its brand value, but it's not a full-time program. That's why.

As per my knowledge, the Executive MBA of 16 months from the reputed institution of ITM is more beneficial since it involves projects and lectures. The projects will provide practical knowledge of the course, and the lectures will be easier to grasp and understand compared to online assignments, which often become difficult to comprehend. The online Executive MBA in India is offered by the Institute of ITM, which you can enroll in.
