I am a little under stress ,just a few hours left not even a day and i have to prepare a speech .
Its a farewell party which i and my colleagues are throwing to the head of our department who is leaving and at the same time welcome the new head of the department.
We respect and love our head of the department who is leaving and beleive that the new one is equally good.
My colleagues have asked me to prepare a farewell speech that really would speak from our hearts but i just am falling short of the right words to really express our true feelings .
I know there are smart people here and someone would be kind enough to provide me with such a beautiful speech

Hi Sultana,

I hope this reaches you before your deadline. In any case you and those reading this post can use this for future reference.

In any farewell speech, the focus must be on the employee who is leaving.

Ideally you must begin with a short introduction as to why the function is organized and then give a brief update of the person eg. begin with when the person joined, his job profile, his contribution and possibly also touch upon his education and family background.

Next move on to express your appreciation of his contribution as an employee, a colleague and refer to some personal qualities of the person that were much appreciated by all. Highlight a few facets of the person that were unknown to others e.g. if the person is a good painter/ has a passion for social work etc.

Conclude with warm appreciation for the contribution the person has made, the influence on the functional area in particular and the company in general and why the company and the colleagues will miss the person.

Wish the person all success and invite the senior most person or a very close associate to offer a token of appreciation and love from all.

AT the same time welcome the new boss warmly and refer to a couple of his/ her very well accepted qualities which make him/ her the ideal person to take over from the retiring senior. Assure the new person of whole hearted support on behalf of all and wish him all the best in the new role.

You can tweak the above to meet your specific requirements.

Hi Sultana
I am delighted that you have taken time out to thank me and also for your kind words of appreciation for my reply.
It really heartens me when a person attempts to take up a challenge as you have done and I am sure the experience would have both encouraged you and made you feel confident of your abilities. I am also certain you did a wonderful job of the farewell and welcome speech.
Warm regards

Jacob ,
well just wanted to let you know that i wrote a speech and then tried to put all that i wanted to say on behalf of the entire team in a poem form. And it was a hit i read the poem in front of 50 or more people and then presented it to the General manager leaving us ,he was really touched and everyone got a little emotional.
It was short and the feelings could not be put down any better.
Thanks

Hi
Putting your thoughts in verse takes a lot of effort and I am certain you did a fabulous job of it. In fact I hope people reading this post will make note of the fact that one can break out of the regimented mold and attempt to be creative and different as you have done.
Heartiest Congratulations.

Jacob,
Well what i believe is every individual has it in him or her, a little guidance and a little motivation surely helps .If you have the concepts right building on it is not that difficult its just that at times you are just a little scared to try something new .
Its just like trying a new cuisine you are scared how it would taste but if only one believed that how bad could it really be ,either your taste bud would appreciate the new taste or it might not but you at least you tried something new .
But you know something your response when i was in a mode of fight or flight really helped and i shall always remember that.

Hi
Well said and I really liked the analogy of trying out a new cuisine. I just wished the numerous students who blindly ask questions on here without even caring to make some effort to find the solutions would take inspiration from you.
I am glad that in some ways I helped you take the plunge but am actually even more delighted that you took on the challenge and approached it in a very innovative way.
Way to go.
Best Wishes
Jacob

Dear Jacob,
Now if i may once again bother you i need a little help here,i work in a department where we conduct workshops for the the crew members to help them understand human factors which is a major contributory factor in all accidents, be able to identify threats and when faced with any abnormal situation be able to respond and ensure a safe and efficient flight. Now for this we require new facilitators i have all ready made an SOP regarding selection of facilitators but i need to make an application form its not that difficult but i want it to be a little different as to measure their confidence level would they be able to stand in front of senior and experienced crew members , competent and in their words would like to know as to why they want to be a facilitator is it the subject itself that fascinates them.
Well i want little questionnaire to be answered interesting and revealing .
kind regards,
Sultana
