Hello All, As accounts manager and admin, I would like to know, what to do, if an employee refuses to sign on the counter foil of the salary slip. We have a procedure that a salary slip is given and a counter-foil of the salary slip must be signed by the employee as its required in our accounts and by our auditors.
The employee refuses to sign and says that he does not need the salary slip and will also not sign on the counter salary slip. What steps or legal steps can be taken?

You need not take any legal step for this kind of minor misconduct but just note in the counterfoil that employee refused to collect the payslip or refused to sign on the counterfoil. That is enough for the auditors. Even the Labour department will not question it if they find a remark like this.

you can just tell the employee that next month onwards he wont be getting the salary and he can submit his resignation. RULES ARE RULES, i dont think there is any reason for him to tell i dont want payslip and i wont sign. When he is told to sign he should sign without making issue, as other employees to have signed. This is too much. Please take care of such trouble makers

Dear Trupti
Salary Slip has a definitive purpose and can be used more effectively for loans, presentation of this to other employers etc. Bank statement is also legal but its not the right way. Salary slip will show break up of the salary and deductions. This is very important for accounts of the company as well as necessary for the employee.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for reply ...We give salary slips to our employees but don't take their acknowledgement (signature ) stating that they have received salary slips from us. we also maintain a copy of the salary slip in register, what i wanted to know is acknowledgement is compulsory or we can show bank statement to concern authorities who come come audit or inspection.
