Dear Shweta,
The best way to understand labour laws and their applications in detail is to study various case studies and judgement of court on labour issues. But before that you need to have a basic understanding of each act that you would be regularly implementing..apart from reading bare acts also go about the local versions like that of a state specific to the place where you are operational.
And good news is that you are on citehr where there is exhaustive material available and there are seniors who can instantly clear your doubts
So all the very best....

Hi Sweta, Welcome fresher.
Like any other career, HR also require a thorough knowledge of various laws and labour practices. The ideal step to start your career is straight walk into a big book stall and pick up BARE ACTs of all labour related booklets, buy them and one after other start going thro', take notes of Do's and Dont's. Prepare short notes on every such Acts and list out step by step action to be taken depending on your co's specific requirements. To start with read BARE ACTS of -
1. Contract Labour Regulation & Abolition Act.
2. Shops & Estt. Act
3. Payments of wages Act & Minimum Wages Act.
4. PF Act,
5. ESI Act
6. Bonus Act
7. Workmen Compensation etc.
8. Trade Union Act.
9. Apprentices Act.
10. Maternity Act.
11. Standing Orders Act.
12. Factories Act.
13. Industrial Disputes Act etc.
And go to further to master other Laws & Acts. (Refer a list (& much more to come) -attached)
All the best.

hai shweta
I THINK U HAVE THE BASIC DEGREE IN HR IE SUFFICIENT. SECOND THING IS POLITE LANGUAGE TO DEAL THE PEOPLE. TO START ANY CAREER SELF PERSONALITY IS IMPORTANT THAN THE KNOWLEDGE. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER BUT PRESENTATION IS DIVINE. FIRST OF ALL ORGANISATIONAL MANUAL IS THE BARE ACT OF BETTER FUNCTION IN THE ORGANISATION. IF REQUIRED ANY ONE CAN GO FOR OTHER BARE ACTS.
AS SAID BY THE MEMBER IN THE BEGINNING ABSTRACTS AND RELATED ARTICLES READING IS MUST TO IMPROVE THE PROFESSIONALISM IN ANY FIELD. AND ANY HOW THIS CITEHR IS THERE FOR ALL SOLUTIONS.
