Dear Swathi,
There is no any New law is enforced as far as Earned Leave is concerned. The eligibility of and computation of leave is already specified in the respective Acts and Rules, wherever is applicable. I am speaking about the Statutory Leaves which government is insisting compulsory to allow the employees to enjoy their leaves. But the Management has the discretion to allow the employees over and above the statutory leaves. Now you tell me of which new law you are referring ?

At present the old law will prevail for Earned Leaves sanction (eligibility-240 days work in a year-leave sanction 1 day EL for 20 days of work).
A Bill introduced now in Parliament to change the criteria for EL as under:-
Earlier one should work for 240 days - Now 90 days of work will enough
The provision of 1 day for every 20 days of work will remain as it is.
Because of this amendment, if passes in parliament, in future may be from 2015 calender year, almost all the workers will get EL. This will be more beneficial to employees.
