I have resigned from my current company giving three months notice period but they are delaying my release date i had resigned on 08-Aug-2012 so as per my calculation i should be relieved on 05-Nov-2012 but they are saying on 08-Nov-2012. I want to know whether i am Correct in my calculation.

Dear Ganbag,
It's quite unadorned and simple. Most companies work on 30 day calendar count. If the date that you resigned is on 8th August, then your date f relieving should be 8th November. Do not get baffled.
P.S: For a clear clarification do always concern your Human Resource.

Dear Ganbag,
As per the Company standing orders, notice period should be one month / 30 days.
Generally most of the companies will follow month basis.
You can relieved on 7th of Nov, 3 month will complete on 7/11

Dear Ganbag, Your three months' notice period will get completed on 07.11.2012. It is a well established industry practice so don’t have any more confusion. Rgds, Rakesh Pd Srivastav

Well my question to you..
Does this difference of three days really matter to you?
Do you have any problem for staying more three days, i mean if you are not gonna join new employer on the same days and they feel that they need you for more three days with anything in any case, I dont think there should have any problem in staying for just more 3 days.
Hope you have spent a good time here and nothing was wrong behind your resignation, so I would say there must have no problem in staying for more three days (Tuesday to Thursday).

some companies mention the notice period in days, some mention in months. In your case, month will apply. Pon

Dear Ganbag,
In addition to the above, I would also tell that your notice period will be completed on 7th Nov 2012 and you should be relieved on 8th Nov.
You've stayed for 3 months and another 3 days should really not matter.
Moreover, I'm at a loss to understand as to how you calculated as 5th Nov.. Never mind..
If you donot have any due dates to your new employment, please donot bother for another 3 days.. If you want to get relieved immediately request your HR and your HOD and I suppose they would not mind to relieve you earlier and they would not bother for another 3 days.....
This cannot be called as delay...
