hello frnd, i need to know about the criteria in a salary statement. ie, basic, DA, HRa , PF, ESI, etc. & what basis they were computed?

The salary break-up comprises of many things namely:-

Basic Pay
Dearness Allowance or House Rent Allowance
City Compensatory Allowance
Special Personal Allowance
Conveyance/Transport Allowance
Dress/Uniform Allowance
Washing Allowance
Food/meals Allowance
Fuel and Maintenance Allowance
Children Education Allowance
and so on

See the enclosed file, it'll clear some of your doubts, on what break-ups PF is calculated etc. surely it'll help you..further i would say I had given a wrong reply sometime back on this website, you may search with my id or in the meantime I'll search and reply to you.
